Cerulean City Orchestra

A stick clatters along a wooden fence
Sets the rhythms, sets the pace
Of clicking heels on pavements.

Flutes soar on a gust of wind,
A flock of birds swooping, gliding,
Disappearing.

Voices rise and fall,
A brassy orchestra
Of intertwined solos.

From a tenement window
Soft piano waterfalls
Of notes stroked to life like lovers.

The orchestral city breathless,
Takes form, inhales, sighs
Under cerulean skies.
